Who we are
Fundación Sembrando Huellas M.A.C.A. was born from our own story. When our child was diagnosed with Phenylketonuria (PKU), we began to learn firsthand about a reality that thousands of families around the world live with: uncertainty, the constant search for information, difficulty accessing special foods, metabolic formulas, treatments, specialized professionals, and new options that could improve the quality of life of people living with this condition. That journey helped us understand that behind every diagnosis there is a person, a family and a story. And it was precisely out of that need that Fundación Sembrando Huellas M.A.C.A. was born.
Our story, mission and vision
Our story
Fundación Sembrando Huellas M.A.C.A. was born inspired by Mathi, our child living with Phenylketonuria (PKU), and by the difficulties we faced as a family after his diagnosis. We decided to turn our experience, learning and challenges into an opportunity to accompany, guide and help other families walk this path with more information, support and hope.
Mission
To accompany and support people and families living with PKU and other metabolic, genetic and rare conditions, providing information, guidance, resources and opportunities through national and international partnerships.
Vision
To build a global network of support and cooperation connecting families, professionals, organizations, researchers and institutions, helping to improve the quality of life and opportunities of people living with rare diseases.
Who is Mathi, and why is he our inspiration?
Fundación Sembrando Huellas M.A.C.A. was born from a deeply personal story: the story of our son, Mathi.
Mathi lives with Phenylketonuria (PKU), and since this condition entered our lives, we began a journey that completely transformed the way we understand food, growth, medical follow-up, nutrition, and above all, the needs a family can face after receiving a rare-disease diagnosis.
Just as we went through very hard times, we don't want another family to go through the same thing.
